Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how A Poll in Chat ("we", "our", "us", or the "App") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use the A Poll in Chat add-on for Google Chat.

1. Information We Collect​

1.1 Information you provide​

When you use the App, we process the following information:

  • Poll content — The question text and answer options you enter when creating a poll.
  • Vote data — Which option you selected on a given poll.
  • Advanced poll settings — Whether multiple votes are allowed, whether voter names are hidden, and the poll close time (if set).

1.2 Information provided by Google Chat​

When you interact with the App, Google Chat provides:

  • Your display name — Used to label your vote on non-anonymous polls.
  • Your Google account email — Used to enforce one-vote-per-user and to track per-user poll quota and license state.
  • Space and message identifiers — Used to update the poll card when votes change.

1.3 License information​

If you purchase a license, we store:

  • Your license key — Provided by our payment processor, stored locally via Google's UserProperties.
  • A per-user "polls created" counter — Used to enforce the 10-poll free tier limit.

2. How We Use Information​

We use the information described above solely to:

  • Render and update the poll card in Google Chat
  • Enforce one vote per user per poll
  • Enforce the free-tier poll quota
  • Verify and activate license keys

We do not:

  • Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Train machine learning models on your content
  • Access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google Workspace data

3. Data Storage​

  • Poll data is stored in Google Apps Script ScriptProperties, which is hosted by Google.
  • License state and user quota are stored in Google Apps Script UserProperties, also hosted by Google.
  • License verification sends only the license key (no personal data) to our backend at gptsheet-license-service.terrydjony.workers.dev for validation.

No data is stored on servers we control other than license key validation records.

4. Data Sharing​

We do not share your data with any third party except:

  • Google — All data is stored within Google's Apps Script infrastructure under your Google account.
  • Our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) — When you purchase a license, Lemon Squeezy handles payment information according to their privacy policy. We never see your payment details.

5. Data Retention & Deletion​

  • Poll data persists until the poll is deleted from your chat, after which associated data may be purged on our next maintenance cycle.
  • License and quota data persist as long as the App is installed. Uninstalling the App removes all associated UserProperties data.
  • You may request full deletion of any server-side license records by contacting us (see Support).

6. Security​

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Data at rest is stored in Google's infrastructure and protected by Google's security measures. License keys are transmitted to our backend over HTTPS only.

7. Compliance with Google API Services User Data Policy​

The App's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Children's Privacy​

The App is not intended for users under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy​

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the App listing. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
