Quick start

  1. Install A Poll in Chat from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
  2. Open any Google Chat space, group, or DM.
  3. Type /poll and fill in the form that appears.
  4. Click Create Poll — your poll posts to the chat as an interactive card.
  5. Vote by clicking any option's Vote button.

Frequently asked questions

Is my poll data private?

Yes. Poll content and votes are stored only within Google's Apps Script infrastructure under your Google account. We don't access Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Workspace data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How many polls can I create on the free tier?

Each user can create up to 10 polls on the free tier. After that, a one-time $15 lifetime license removes the limit forever.

How do I activate my license?

After purchase, you'll receive a license key by email. In Google Chat, type /poll once you've reached the free-tier limit. You'll see an Activate License button — click it and paste your key.

Can I use it with a personal @gmail.com account?

No. Google Chat apps are only available to Google Workspace accounts. Personal @gmail.com accounts cannot install or use Chat apps.

Can voters see who voted for what?

By default, yes — voter display names show under each option. If you check Hide names of participants when creating the poll, names are hidden and only vote counts are shown.

Can users vote for multiple options?

Only if the poll creator checked Allow multiple votes during poll creation. Otherwise, each user can vote for only one option, and clicking a different option moves their vote.

Can I close a poll at a specific time?

Yes. When creating a poll, set a Close poll at date and time. After that time, vote buttons disappear and no new votes are accepted.

How do I update the poll after creating it?

Poll content (question and options) cannot be edited after creation. If you need to change something, close the poll and create a new one.
